I love special sessions with friends but you are going to love my new session special for your friends!! Book and pay for an “In The Life” portrait session with me by June 30th and if your friend books and pays for a session by June 30th too, you each only pay $150 for your entire session! This is a 1-2 hour session for up to 4 people and includes 40-50 images in an online gallery for purchasing plus one luster 8×10 print! You can’t beat it.

These sessions can be booked for any time this year. This is a great way to get your summer, fall or holiday session taken care of for the year!

I recently took a parenting class and one of the main things I learned about was letting go. Letting go of control of your kids’ behavior and letting go of your anger over your kids’ behavior. It has helped make my experience being around a 2 and a 5 year old a much happier one.

I have also been showing more of my personal photography. Getting it out there for others to see and comment on. I am showing it at the Center for Spiritual Living in San Juan.

This process is so important. Most of the time I keep it all cooped up inside the slide box or the backup drive and judge it, then don’t show it to anyone.

Too much editing.

In the process of showing, I have learned what I like and what I don’t like about the direction of some of my images.

I learned that I need to let go in my photography too.

I have always struggled with this. In my life drawing class, I had a hard time loosening up. The instructor really worked with me on it. As soon as I was out of his class I tightened right up again-like a draftsperson.

So, I am giving myself ‘self-assignments’ to work on letting go. Letting go of the perfectly focused, exposed and composed. Letting go of the need to control every detail in every corner of every shot. Letting go of perfection and allowing the feeling of what’s in front of me tell me the story (just like parenting my own 2 kids).

I had so much fun photographing Cori and her growing family recently. We started at the park where she and her husband were married and ended up at her folks’ beach house where the kids go “every day!” It was a beautiful morning and the start to some warmer weather for us-finally.
