Maliea’s birthday is coming up so this entire week is dedicated to preparing for her birthday celebrations.

I have been going through all her photographs to compile posters for her Fourth Birthday celebration at her preschool. I was surprised to discover that there were quite a few images that I didn’t remember ever making of her! Each one expresses her perfectly, however, and it’s been so fun to see her grow again and evolve from a newborn into the little girl she is. As much as I miss her as a tiny baby, I am really enjoying her vibrant and spirited big girl personality

She makes me think about things I never considered before and she boosts my morale and self esteem with her constant compliments and silly antics. She is the little girl I thought I never wanted and she keeps me on my toes as a mom.

Merrik created installation art in our family room that is to stay up all through winter. It is a field of jellyfish with snow on them. If any of you have six year olds, you might recognize this from Spongebob Squarepants which Merrik is really into because it’s all about living under the sea. Anything related to the ocean catches his attention for months on end.

This week’s postcard is from the Oakley House jacuzzi-in honor of the amazing Pipemasters Pro that just went down there this month. This is where we spent 5 amazing days with family in October. We are all missing Oahu terribly.

Although we had no say in it…

…we all enjoyed the last few days of warm weather even in the overwhelming moments of illness in the family.

It’s very characteristic for this time of year here. I don’t know what I would do if we didn’t have days like this after the cold and rainy days.
