about me
That’s me on the right. We are doing a timer shot and I had to run up to this wall. On the first take, I couldn’t get up and missed the shot! I love quirky, real-life, journalistic images.
OK. So here’s the scoop. I have been sincerely passionate about photography since way before it got trendy. I spent hours in the darkroom and studied sensitometry. My heart and soul belongs to photography and I am finally at a point in my life where I have the capacity and confidence to share that.
Just so you know, I am not a trend follower. I usually see a trend and end up heading in the opposite direction. When I was young, that was the way I “rebelled” Ha! but now it’s just instinctive and natural for me to do. So, if you are looking for the latest craze in portrait photography, it’s not me. But, I always rest on what’s been important for years and what is still important today: good composition, good color, quality retouching and telling a story.
I treat my clients like they are the only people I am working with. I still have little ones at home that I spend a lot of time with so I don’t take on very many clients. I would rather spend lots of personal, one-on-one time with a handful of clients each year, than be scattered and stressed trying to accommodate the needs of too many clients. I love to collaborate with creative people who have ideas about what they want in their photography-a special word collage, a personalized book with a meaningful poem that goes with your photographs, special props at your location that say something significant about your family or your relationship.
I am definitely not the cheapest photographer you are going to find. I am priced well above most Mother’s With A Camera who barely know what an F-stop is or how to color correct for skin tones. What you get from me is commercial level photographic processing and a growing level of technical and artistic skills.
More about me beyond photography. I love my retro, wanna-be mid-century modern one story house where I live with my family overlooking the beach town of San Clemente, CA. We all love to surf, sail, go to the beach and we feel like we live in paradise. Someday we hope to actually live in a tropical paradise on our sailboat cruising across the Pacific and around the world.
That’s our dream but this is life and photography is [my] life [and your life when I get a hold of it] and it has been ever since I can remember.
I love…[besides my family]
my iMac
the sand on the North Shore of Oahu
my simple, low-key life
quirky moments
when my annual flowers come back to life
I don’t like…
dry weather
rude and stupid drivers
when my plants die
forgetting important details about others
when I burn the toast [or the bacon]
When I am on a photography adventure, I document people’s lives. Things don’t need to be perfect to be beautiful. Everyone has an innate beauty in the way they are and the way they interact with those who care about them. I look forward to exploring your natural way of being with others who are important to you. I am honored to be a part of your adventure in the place that means something to you so that you can remember those perfectly imperfect moments for years to come. Let’s talk about how you are living your dreams right now and put those ideas visually into your family photographs. I can’t wait to work with you!
