[photography] is my great little valentine

I am very excited to have some great resources for displaying and sharing your photography. Valentine’s Day is a fun time to give images of your family and kids to those you love. I have a couple of specials that will help you pull images together to share in a beautiful package. One is a wallet sized accordian fold booklet with a silk cover. It’s a sweet little gift. For only $65 you get 3 of these little gems to share! Choose chocolate, ruby, onyx, celery, sapphire, sea green or plum.

These will make you want to print more of those images from our session together or to schedule the session you’ve been meaning to do with me before it’s too late!

The other offer I have that is a great gift for Valentine’s Day is a portrait folio display with 2 5×7s matted in a 9×9″ stand up folio for $89 or 2 8×10s matted in a 12×12″ stand up folio for $129. They are covered in a beautiful brocade fabric of your choice.

I love Merrik’s Preschool. I mean look at how much fun they have and all the cool things they get to do. I had no idea I would love Preschool so much.

[life] is sticking with what we know

After doing hours of research about the closest and most accessible places to reach the newly deposited piles of white stuff in the local mountains, we decided to stick close to town. Neither one of us really wanted to drive 4 hours to get to a place where the rest of Southern California was going to be. The traffic, sketchy road conditions and hordes of people suffering from cabin fever did not sound like the way we wanted to experience our weekend together.

We always find that not going very far to do the things we like to do ends up being the best decision for us. Both Jim and I have a hard time getting in the car and driving for different reasons. He commutes to Santa Ana every day during the week and does enough sitting in the car and in traffic. I don’t like getting in the car to get somewhere ever since we sold our cars to go sailing then lived in Hawaii and took the bus everywhere. Yes, the car is extremely necessary for our Southern California lifestyle and we could not live without it. However, to get in the car for long distances when you really don’t have to makes us think twice every time.20100123family_dpharborwithdad019_bw 20100123_dpharborwithdad_collage02 20100123_dpharborwithdad_collage01

[life] is inside

It has been raining here all week which is an extremely rare occurrence. If we do get rain it’s usually for only a day or two. The week has been filled with lots of indoor activities that is starting to grow old. It just makes us all appreciate so much more than we already do the lifestyle that we have here in Southern California. I love the rain and wish we had a little bit all year round but the deluge we have had lately has kept me from driving far. The roads in our area are not great in the rain and neither are the drivers so I hesitate to spontaneously hop in the car for a trip to the mall or other indoor entertainment.

So our week consisted of a trip to the local paint your own ceramics place, Fired Up, Kids Day Out, Serra Preschool and a friend’s house in Laguna Niguel whom I haven’t seen in over a year. Merrik loved painting at the ceramics place and Maliea loved eating cupcakes with newly discovered friends Lana and Lydia.

[life] is manna from heaven

I have been literally overwhelmed lately with the separate demands of Merrik and Maliea. I think I have just been trying to cruise on through this period of our discontent but finally realized that there is just too much for my body and brain to process. The week long experience of feeling seriously ill and drained was a big tip off for me.

I have also been avoiding publishing just another post of “outings with Merrik and Maliea” because I am bored with the concept. We have still be running here and running there and I have still been taking pictures but the actual blogging it all hasn’t excited me much. It’s the beginning of a new year and I was expecting to jump start it with lots of new projects and photo sessions but that just hasn’t happened. That and the reality of spending lots of our savings on fixing up the house, the loss of a good friend and needing to dig out of too much stuff has slowed my energy to a crawl.

However, my little girl is definitely keeping me cheery and reveling in joy of having a toddler around (even though I seriously miss the baby stage already). Maliea is talking up a storm and repeats everything you say including “Are you alright?” when one of us coughs. She calls herself “Manna” and she is literally our little Angel from Heaven.

Beautiful little “Manna” on the beach at Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado. She almost got taken out by a kite-surfer she was so curious and unintimidated by the huge thing flying over her head.

I love this one of her kissing my big sister Karen-her aunt and Godmother. She is the sweetest little girl I have ever known.20100114family_019auntkaren

Here she is at the WSA Surf contest at the San Clemente Pier clearly saying something very important to me. She is a talker.20100109family_002wsasurfcontest

And I cannot resist her gorgeous eyelashes and hair. Here they are the heroes of her story.20100102_coronado_collage05

[life] is bikes and beaches

Redundancy is prominent in our lives right now: watching and rewatching Curious George, Dinosaur Train, Polar Express and other movies; reading and rereading Meet Kai Lan and Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Our other redundancy is the beach: bikes, swings ocean and sand. With it in our backyard it’s feels weird to not go.

Later the same day we met up with friends that we haven’t seen since October and the kids had a blast playing on the berms of sand built up by the lifeguard dozer and on the closed up lifeguard towers.

I love these of Noah running to the water and waiting for the waves to settle before heading out for a quick surf. He was hesitant to go out because the fog was so thick most of the time we were there but it finally lifted right before sundown.
