Hi there! My name is Kristianne Koch Riddle. I am a photographer based in San Clemente, CA and this is my photo blog. I have been passionate about photography for over 20 years. I am also passionate about surfing, sailing and yoga but haven't been able to do as much of those things as I like since having my 2 beautiful kids. I don't like crowds or trendy things.

My blog is where I share my thoughts and a selection of favorite photographs I have made: portrait sessions, my family adventures, personal studies and fine art images part of a series.

I am so glad you stopped by for a visit.

As a vocational photographer, I bring to you, my clients, a fine art photographer's eye and a commercial photographer's preparation and technical skills. I love to spend time with families creating memorable, artistic, storytelling images of their time together. I also love designing out beautiful, contemporary ways to display your images: whether it be a custom session album or framed or mounted print clusters for your walls.

our house leaks like, well, a boat

I guess it’s blue water cruising in training at our house. Once again we had water damage. This time it was in the art room. The room where all my photographs, family photos, Jim’s paintings, the vintage poster collection and all our art supplies are kept.
Yesterday, at about 10am, I had diapers in the washing machine and put it on rinse when it filled and filled and filled spilling out into the art room for a good 20 minutes I suspect.
Thank God I was home and walked past the doorway when I noticed that Tiki was hesitant to go in where his food was floating around the room. The room was about 5/8 inch deep with water reaching across to 3 of the 4 walls. I screamed in disbelief then called the Flood Pros to come and help assess the damage. In the meantime, I swept gallons of water out the door into the garage and had help from my friend Aggelige drying up the rest with towels.
Now, that room is a disaster with artwork, posters, flat files, everything stacked willy nilly to the ceiling and here and there. The house is roaring at 120 deafening decibals (comparable to a jet engine) and we are headed to the Dana Point Marina Inn to regain our peace and quiet and our sanity for the next 3 nights. Last night was the creepiest night of my life ever with the roar of the fans and heaters and the nauseating sweet smell of the equipment (?).

  • Oh do I know the sounds of those fans way to well. We had them in our house for three days as well. It is absolutely deafening. I am so sorry you are experiencing but praising God you were there. I hope there was not too much damage. I hope you can recover.

  • So sorry to hear about his Kris! I’m so glad you were home to take care of it immediately. (Poor Tiki and his floating food dish! that actually sounds pretty hilarious… visually speaking as an outsider it sounds hilarious – not when it’s happening to you.) I am quite familiar with those deafening fans that have to blow and dry everything up from when we flooded in our living/dining room many years ago. Hope you can have a “descent” weekend in Dana Point and your art work isn’t too much of a disaster once the fans leave.
