I finally rebuilt my office. I’ve been thinking about moving it to the other side of the house and getting new cabinets and desks for about 3 years now. I did it right before Christmas which was a huge undertaking and not such a bright idea but it’s done and I’m thrilled.
With a little help from Jim and hours of studying IKEA’s catalog I decided on the simplest (and cheapest) Effektiv set-up with 2 Vika Oleby desks-one Merrik’s height and one for me. Then Jim picked out a couple of killer chairs. I have also gone wireless which is fun but there sure are still a hell of a lot of power cables under the desk!

Gasp, I turned 42 yesterday. I started the day at 5:30am processing images for Jim and his unreasonable deadline then I spent the day driving to and from swim lessons at Waterworks Aquatics only to find out they were closed for the week. Then I took Merrik and Maliea on the Amtrak to Fullerton to watch the big BNSF diesel freight trains rattle through the station with a whistle and a hiss. I did get to enjoy (?) a screaming, clinging kid lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Rutabagorz, with my good friend Chris before having to field “loading” fits all the way home on the train and for hours on the potty before going out for fabulous sashimi and sukyaki at another one of my favorite restaurants in SC, Taka-O. Truly a great day.

we had a beautiful but very cold day after Christmas and Merrik insisted on going in the ocean. So, Jim, Merrik and I headed down to clock tower beach to put our feet in the water. We stepped in for no more than 5 minutes and we were all shivering from the very cold wind. The water felt warm in comparison!

I haven’t been able to shoot much lately. I’ve been kinda busy rebuilding my office, decorating the house for Christmas, having septoplasty and some other weird surgical procedures done on my sinuses, designing Christmas cards for other families besides mine, editing the Camp Gramma Grampa movie, grading final web site projects for my Digital Fundamentals course, taking a mixed media class, framing artwork and photos of the kids for my home, making a superhero cape, sewing curtains for the kids’ bathroom, watching my baby girl pull herself up on every piece of furniture we have and enjoying my boy’s building excitement for Christmas Eve.
