Well, my situation with lecturing this semester has actually worked out for the best. My second class that I was “entitled to” according to union rules was actually given to a good friend and an awesome person, Davis Barber. My biggest concern is that I have now relinquished the only “seniority” I have over a class because I have taught it and he has not. Now he and another instructor have taught the class (the other part-time lecturer took my class over last semester while I was on maternity leave) and now both of them have priority AND seniority to teach the class. Ah, well, such is life. Maybe it’s going to leave room for new opportunities to come into my professional life!
